Sounds to me like you want to scan only part of a page and that is for
your scanner to do, not the software you are inserting the scan into

When you scan in a page of text, you now have a *picture* not something
that the computer can "read." So you can't edit it. You
might be able to chop off a piece if you open the picture in GIMP.
