Plug projector on to external socket of laptop (may need a video
vga cable if projector not fitted with one). Then turn on
projector, wait about 20 secs, then turn on laptop. Start up
Impress as if to edit your file, and press F5. Your presentation
should now be full screen on the projector and laptop.
Forward by Right Arrow or Page down keys, backward by Left Arrow
or Page Up. Abort the presentation by Esc. Work this out at
home, using a spare monitor if the projector is not available to
you; don't wait to try it first time in front of an audience!
And don't forget there's a plugin, Presenter Console, to help if you
have the luxury of two separate screen outputs. It gives your notes and
a current/next slide view to the presenter on one monitor, and the
full-screen current slide on a second for the audience. Nice.
