Have you checked the md5sum for your downloaded file? It is
possible that the downloaded file is corrupt. Using Linux, your system
has this program already installed (md5sum). You can run it from a
console (KDE calls it a Konsole).
When I download OOo, I do it to /home/(user)/tmp where "(user)" is
the name of my home directory. I then extract the files
to /home/(user)/tmp/OOo_1.1.4_LinuxIntel_install. I enter the install
directory and as root run
setup -net.
