I am trying to use openoffice to build a simple website. When trying to use the hyperlink to open another file on the site you have to enter the user name and password for the site to get at it, openoffice displays this information for all to see on the web. Is there any way to mask this information? Or do I need to try something else ?

Copy to OP:

I have never tried to use Writer/Web to script web pages. Based on posts by others, I believe the following rules apply:

Rule #1: Don't use OOo to prepare websites.
Rule #2: If you want to use OOo to prepare a website, see Rule #1.

Now with that out of my system, I cannot wrap my head around what you are trying to describe as a problem that you wish to assign to OOo. The information being transferred between the user and the web server is never encrypted unless your site is using https and that has absolutely nothing to do with what application you use to prepare the pages being served.

Did I come close to answering your question or do I need to wait until I wake up completely?
