Try replacing "MyComputer\Program Files" with "C:\Program Files" (leave off the double quotes ["], of course).

After unzipping the Open Office downloaded file, I am getting several errors opening specific files. I tried to use the Md5sums and according to the instructions on your website to make sure it downloaded correctly and completely. Below I have copied and pasted the directions from your support page:

"In the DOS prompt window, use the "cd" command to navigate to the subdirectory where you stored the downloaded OpenOffice.org archive file. For example, assume that your downloaded OpenOffice.org archive file is in C:\My Documents\Downloads\, then the command would be: "cd "My Documents\Downloads""."

When I type this in, changing the location because my archived file is in MyComputer\ProgramFiles, I get an error saying "bad command or file name". I have tried every combination I know to get this to work...spaces, no spaces, backslashes, no backslashes, colons, no colons......I am about ready to give up on this altogether.

I hate to say this, but this is quickly turning into way more trouble than it's worth. I have been trying to get this installed for 2 weeks now. I have had computer training so I do know my way around a computer, but this is ridiculous!

What do I do now, short of uninstalling all the Open Office and calling it quits?

Thanks,
Carol E. Moore
