Hi Nathan,
If you right-click on a page number, then select Fields from the context
menu, you should be able to enter a value into the Offset field... which
will increase your page numbers by that number. Eg. Offset = 20, first
page should be page 21. My apologies if this doesn't work, as I'm using
the 2.0 post-beta builds, and you haven't mentioned which version you're
using.
Also, you might want to have a look in the documentation about Master
documents. Using those, you can have all your work in separate files
BUT available in one main document... but you need to open the original
'child' document to modify it.

Hello
First I want to say that I realy like openoffice.
My question has to do with automatic page numbering...
I am using the word processer to do my school work. do to the shere
size of
my lesson's (I am over 32 pages and I am not even 5% done with the intire
course)I want to seperate my work into sepperate files (so I dont
acedently
change any thing on the work I have allready completed) but in order
to do
this properly I need to be able to set the automatic page numbering to
start
at any number. For example, file "one" would have pages 1-30 and
file "2"
would have pages 31-60 and so forth....
please let me know what to do
Thanks

Hi,
I've tried myself as U suggested, unfortunately 1 problem subsists:
By using the offset the page counting will stop at the total page number
of the document you have (i.e. in a 56 page document, you type in the
offset 45, the pagecount will operate untill page 56, meaning the 11
first pages, and then nothing). What I remembered I did the first time
was to add blank pages in the end of the document, up to numbered all
the written pages. Unfortunatelly that doesn't look very professional
(if you're writing up a PhD thesis as in my case...). If anyone found a
remedy to this problem, I will be gratefull.
Thank you very much
PS: I'm using OOo 1.1.4
