setting an external program within OpenOffice as it is supposed to use the Windows
standard mailer. That is clearly not working as well.

I have just gone through this sequence: File => Send =>Document as EMail.
My Thunderbird mailer opened OK. I sent and received the message
satisfactorily.
I am using XP SP2 with OO 1.9.122
