Why are my neoOfficeJ files trying to open in OpenOffice.org when I click on them in Finder? When I try to open them under NeoOfficeJ it works. Please help. NeoOfficeJ is wonderful. I have yet to master this application.
NeoOfficeJ is a version of OpenOffice.org. The official OpenOffice.org for MacOS X isn't ready yet -- the version you have is, instead, OpenOffice.org for the Unix system that underlies MacOS X -- and NeoOfficeJ is a temporary substitute (or maybe it will turn out to be permanent -- until OpenOffice.org for MacOS X is finished and users have had a chance to look at it and compare it to NeoOfficeJ, there's no way of telling).
I would guess that you installed NeoOfficeJ first, and have now installed OpenOffice.org. Since they are two different versions of the same program, Finder uses the more recent one to open the files that, as far as it can tell, could equally well belong to either.
I know that you can instruct Finder to do otherwise, but I don't normally use a Macintosh, and my wife took hers to work this morning. However, I know it was not too difficult for me to figure out in a similar case. I think if you pick one of your files and do an Apple-I (or maybe Cntrl-I) you will get the dialog you need.
