Heck *yes* it is!  That computer is more powerful than mine is!  A NIC
(Network Card) costs about $10, and most "computer geeks" (like me,
meant in a good way) have like 25 laying around the house, and will
glad give one to you when asked.  Linux is a free operating system
available online.

You can get a monitor brand new for less than $100, and used for free.
 If you can't find a free one, most pawn shops, thrift stores, and
white-box makers sell 14-15 inch used monitors for less than $20.  In
the past year, I personally have given-away or sold for $5 over 50
monitors.  I've thrown monitors away because I couldn't get rid of
them.

And, for the record, I am not a computer store owner or worker.  I
just keep my eyes open, and go where the free stuff is.
