Subject: [users] Text Boxes
Dear Open Office,
I have created spreadsheets using Open Office with the same ease as I did
with MS Office. One problem I am having though, is the creation of text
boxes which eliminate the grid lines on a spreadsheet. I have read the help
section which lists" text boxes" but it doesn't tell me how to go about
creating one. I am trying to put a large title on my spreadsheet but some
gridlines are visible when I center the title. In MS Office I could choose
to make the whole title area a text box which eliminated any grid lines on
either side of the centered title. Does Open Office have the same
capibilities?
Hope you can help,
Laurel Proctor
I may not understand the question, but does this help? Use the pull-down
menus for TOOLS > OPTIONS > SPREADSHEET > VIEW > then uncheck the box for
"Grid lines". This will turn off the visible grid that separates the
individual cells. However, this removes the grid lines from the entire
sheet.
Or...
Maybe you need to merge several cells together to form one large cell (big
enough for your title)? Highlight the cells (adjacent, spanning multiple
rows and/or columns). Pull-down: FORMAT > MERGE CELLS > DEFINE. You now
have one large cell with no visible grid lines between what used to be the
separate cells.
