Thanks for taking the time to answer Doug, but I am not looking for
fill across or down.
For example if cell A1 = 123 how does a user copy A1 to K30 using
drag & drop?

Would it be easier to enter K30 in the upper left corner of the
speadsheet? This highlights cell K30. Enter 123, and you have it. If
you drag & drop, you could make a mistake in where you drop the data.
But by specifying the cell, such mistakes are much less likely to
happen.

Absolutely agree with your statement, but that's not the issue. I don't
particularly like or use d&d, but I do have a number of customers who I
have converted (or am in the process of converting) to OOo. Most of them
do like and do use (have used) the drag & drop copy functionality of
Excel. What I am trying to establish here, is whether or not Calc has
this same (similar) functionality.

Sorry about providing a non-responsive reply. That's because I have
always used ctrl-c/ctrl-x and ctrl-v. I find it to be faster and less
error prone than drag&drop. No finger slips off the mouse button, no
data dumped in the wrong location(s). And, if I want to move rather
than copy the original cell, my left index finger has to move over only
one key. Oh, and I'll win a race every time when the destination cell
can't be viewed in the window at the same time as the original.
