Following up to my own post: I found an Issue reported about this problem of Hyperlinks in Impress not working in an Impress Slide Show, in the Quality Assurance site - http://qa.openoffice.org/
This specific issue is reported at: Hyperlinks not avtive in presentation mode http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46618 I have created an attachment for that Issue / Bug, submitted it and added a comment on that page. "Cgu" - cgu at openoffice dot org - has added a comment on that page, saying that the issue has been "VERIFIED"; which I think means that this is fixed in a "development" (as in "not yet released") version. In this case, this issue has been fixed in cws presfixes08 (I assume that means "Child WorkSpace PRESentation FIXES 08"). OK, these look like good news.
