This is confusing me. The subject indicates you want to generate
links from the TOC to various headings in your document. Is this what
you want to do?
Yes, that's exactly what I would like to do.

This may have confused things. The headings are in the body of the
document.
Since my original posting, by a process of trial and error, I have
established some links but I would like to hav some general method to
provide links to all headings - down to level 3.
