Word can't open native OOo documents. You can, within OOo, save the file as a
.doc (various Word file formats from various selectable versions of MS Word in
MS Office) preferably using the latest version of MS Office the OOo you have
supports. If possible, use at least MS Word from MS Office 2000. If the OOo
has Office 2003, save in that .doc file type.
In OOo do:
File -> Save As
then select the latest version of word OOo supports.
