Yes! OpenOffice.org does indeed convert any file to a universally
readable PDF file without the use of any other software.  This is one
of the ways in which OOo 1.x beats MS Word and the features in OOo 2
improve PDF support.

But through the magic of free software, you can create PDF files from
any program that can print:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

This free package creates a virtual Windows printer that you can
print to from any program.  I use it all the time for inferior
programs that do not have OOo's capabilities :) ... and it's great.
