the original document consists of a4 paper size pages, it is printed on
a3 paper as a booklet so that size of the resulting pages is a4.
i tried brochure printing, but it sort of prints four pages per real
page, but i would like only two of them...

Yes.
File > Printer Settings > Properties
Set your paper size to A3 and Orientation to Landscape.
File > Print > Options
Under Pages check Brochure and either Left pages or Right pages.
I don't know anything about duplex printing (i.e. printing on both
sides of the page in one operation).
You might have to do a couple of test print-outs to check whether you
need to print your "left" or "right" pages in reverse order.
