I love openoffice.

One little feature that seems to get in the way is what I would call 'smart
list numbering'. I would like to switch it off.

Here is the Feature:

Say I write a quick outline, intending to go back and fill in the blanks
later.

1>Step One
2>Step Two
3>Another Step

When I put my cursor at the end of the first line later and hit enter to
open a blank line, the list get renumbered.
I have discovered that If I hit enter again, the renumbering is undone, but
it is still distracting, and a pain if I don't catch it.

Another one is:

I, the dude who likes lists (now press enter) ...you get a newly numbered
list item II,

Can I turn this off? While not as annoying as the paper clip
( http://www.khmer.ws/jokes/2393.html ) it does get in my way.

Now, I admit that I am a vim user at heart - I tap the escape key at the end
of a passage all the time, and when I proof my work, I am always finding
lower-case i's where I tried to drop into insert mode without thinking, but
hey, I do not want my tools to get in my way.

aloha,
dave
