Hi Howard,

Just as my Subject would indicate I would like to request a change in procedure.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE (picture: little kid wanting a lollipop) can we make folks put a subject in the message before it gets to this list? Keeping track of what [Moderated] thread you may be interested in is nearly impossible. And, searching for one you know was solved even worse! I would think it would be even better to make them sign up to the list, however, considering the overwhelming desire to help, (so speedy, and frequent that it makes me wonder what, if anything, some of you do for a living besides this list!), that may not be a perfect idea. So, if we could at least have a subject line that gave some clue about the message, that would be wonderful.

While I agree this would be desirable, the source of these [Moderated] messages is the contact page of the OOo website, where the "How to use the OOo suite" link is mailto:[email protected] with that subject. I guess the expectation was that users would add something to the tag to describe their problem, but as we all see that just doesn't happen. The issue is that as long as we use a standard mailto link which then opens whatever mail client the user has, there's no real way of forcing the inclusion of a proper subject. We would need to have a form to build the mail for them or something to that effect.

And I'm afraid that even then some would leave the subject blank, not being sure what to put in.
