fontwork allows you to add text to any arbitrary shape.
try drawing some irregular wave with drawing tools, adding some text and
enabling fontwork for it (format -> object -> fontwork).
it might be easier to create simple shaped texts with fwgallery, but
creating a text that flows through a page with pictures etc - that's
where power of fontwork comes handy :)
