I am very well versed in supporting Microsoft Office but have recently moved
myself and my clients to Linux.
To me, the KDE system fits my needs perfectly. I just couldn't get Gnome to
do what I needed without a lot of extra effort.
But the Office Suite is the heart of WHY my clients use a computer at all.
Is there anyone who can give me an informed comparison of the relative
strengths and weaknesses of Koffice and oOOfice?
Are people settling on one of these over the other, or do people learn to use
both?
Also - have I done something wrong, or is oOOffice REALLY this slow (v1 and
v2)? On the half-dozen systems I have set it up on, it is a sluggish as
Microsoft Office! (which is probably my main reason for considering KOffice
at all)
The current issue of Linux Magazine has an article about the new
Koffice 1.4 and its compatibilities with the OpenDocument format and
interchange between OOo and Koffice. The author specifically touches on
the issue of responsiveness. You can read about it at
