Thanks for the reply, I had considered something along those lines but it does not really deal with my problem.
I specifically need to be able to move the template together with the files derived from that template between users and between computers This is for a manual where i want someone adding a new file to be able to use the correct template and to ensure that if someone updates the template that it will be with the files when returned. regards Mike "G.
