You have not specified your Operating System.  

On Linux you have two major choices; evolution, as mentioned earlier or the 
KPim suite in KDE.  I have used both with 100% success with my Palm Zire 71 
for over a year now.

On Windows - well, I suppose Outlook is still king.  It was the one 
application that kept me on Windows the longest.
