Dear all,
In our attempt to make the switch to OO we have run into our first snag.
Some training presentations that we have include AVI's. Most of our
AVI's play fine in Impress but one set does not. If I bring up the
MediaPlayer
in Impress I get a: "The format of the selected file is not supported"
error message.
The AVI plays fine in MediaPlayer 10.0 So I downloaded a utility, AVIcodec which gives all sorts of good
information about what is in an AVI file.
I tells me that the compression is CRAM and that it is "supported"
Digging deeper I find that CRAM is "Microsoft Video 1" and is
"allegedly" the same as MSVC.
So, I go and download the biggest and baddest CODEC library I can find
(The Codecs) and install it.
Still no good. It won't play that file. Any suggestions out there. Thank you very much! Eric

My first plan would be to convert the files from CRAM to a standard format. This would ensure that the files will play in the future or on non-windows machines.

This is one of the issues of using closed source file formats.
