Many thanks Dan, Dale and Walter for your interest and suggestions - I have
learned several things, but alas, haven't cracked my problem yet. I've been to
IE Help but cant find a mention of JavaScript. In Internet Options/Security
Settings I found a "Scripting" Setting showing "Active Scripting! as enabled,
but cant seem to find "JavaScript" anywhere so dont know if it is enabled or
not! I will be extremely grateful if someone can steer me with a bit more
detail. Please bear with me, as I am now 81 and sometimes a bit slow at
grasping some of these procedures! Incidentally, I am running IE6 , using Zone
Alarm Firewall, Pop-up blocker is turned off. I suppose there can be faulty
pages on some sites, but I am more inclined to think the fault lies with me.

Also, bear in mind that it's possible some of the JavaScript scripts
are not functioning properly. I have JavaScript enabled in both IE and
Firefox but still occasionally encounter pages that report JavaScript
errors.

Sometimes it's the scripts themselves that are to blame.

First of all, JavaScript has nothing to do with Java. An unfortunate
naming convention.

Possibly you should assure that your browser has JavaScript enabled.
