Maybe you've made OOo the default application to open Powerpoint
applications?
Is so, the fix is easy. I'll assume you have Windows XP:
Open Windows explorer
Find a Powerpoint file. Maybe you keep them somewhere in "My Documents"?
Right click one of the PPS files
From the menu select "Open With"
Click CHoose Program
Check the box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
In the list box select MS-Powerpoint
If you cannot find MS Powerpoint in the list,
try to "Browse" for it
Click OK once you have selected Powerpoint.
If you cannot select Powerpoint, you will need to re-install it from
your MS Office disks.
