    It depends upon whether you are using a 1.1.x version (1.1.0, 1.1.2, etc.) 
or the new 2.0. 
    In the 1.1.x versions, Click Help and then click Tips. This place a check 
mark (tick mark) in front of Tips.
    In 2.0, it is more involved.
Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > General (Click each one of these in 
succession.) Click the box in front of Tips to check (tick) it. Click OK.
    That should do it.
