Hi Craig,
I did some more experimenting. I used ConTEXT for all my
experiments. I downloaded many of GRS's files, but that didn't seem to
work. I edited the .idx file considerably and modified the dictionary
file considerably. When I executed OpenOffice, the word F??? was still
listed as an alternative to the word mishandle. Unfortunately, the word
mishandle is not the only word that lists F??? as an alternative, or
listed in the .dat file. There are hundreds more words, i.e. arse,
around, bally, bang, bastard, be intimate, bed, blinking, blockhead,
bloody, bloomer, blooming, blow, and blunder, just to name a few. It
seems that modifying the .idx file has no impact on the thesaurus.Only
attempting to modify the .dat file seems to do the trick. The reason
why I say, attempting, is that almost all of my attempts have rendered
the thesaurus inoperable. In fact, I even deleted the entire .dat file
to see if OO would still work, and it worked fine. Basically, the file
that has to be modified is the .dat file. Let me know if you come up
with anything
Greg
