Nope. That doesn't work. The sound plays only during the transition of
the first slide. If you kill the presentation part way through the
transition, the sound keeps on playing. I would guess that neither
effect is desired.

Did you try in the Tasks panel the "Slide Transition" pane to set music and
the option "loop until next sound" on the first slide and no other sound on
other slides ?
