WinXP Home, OO 2, Athlon 1.7GHz

Folks, I've yet to get any help on this, and it'll make or break my ability to use OO for our organization. BTW, I'm a staff of one part-timer, and I've burned a lot of time on this already.

My problem is with hiding or collapsing certain address lines when there is no data in that field. I've read a ton about how to do this (using the Hidden Paragraph function with a "not" or "!" or "NEQ" condition) but the "hidden" line remains hidden whether or not there is data in the field on that line. So it seems like hiding works, but the condition does not. There's no other info on that line (e.g. no other fields, no other text, no spaces, etc.).

For further troubleshooting beyond trying different syntax for the condition, I've tried creating a new merge document from scratch using the same data source. That too has the same problem.

What could I possibly be doing wrong, and how can I resolve this? I really want to use OO.

Carl

Is there a possibility that you misspelled the field name in the
condition? That's the only way I could make mine fail to display the
hidden field.

Otherwise, perhaps we could go step by step in setting up a simple
example and you could take it from there.

Thanks. I suppose I could have misspelled the field name, but I've checked it quite carefully. Also, I'm using a data source which is a Base file that draws it's values in turn from a CSV file. Thus I've tried both using the "field name" alone (no quotes) AND using the entire field name with it's path in the form of "Databasename.Tablename.fieldname" (which is the way the fields show up in the merge document).

Your second suggestion makes me think I should offer up my files as a sample so others can see my problem. I know one way is to file an issue/bug and post files. Is there another way to do this since I'm not sure yet if it's a bug? I'm also happy to send an example via email for anyone interested in taking a closer look.

Carl
