I am new to openoffice and really like what I see so far.

I have run into :

1. When I open a Calc file - edit that file - and then save that file it takes
a long time like 30 to 40 seconds
to save it. A progress bar opens at the bottom saying 'save document'
then increments little boxes across the
     bar until it is finished.
Are there some settings I can look at? The spread sheet is only 37 to 200
lines, only one or two pages.
It takes that long for all the files I open, edit , and then save.
These files were exported from Windows 97 office pro and imported into
openoffice 2.0.
     I am running Windows 2K. 312 meg. 533 mhz. 40gb hard dive 34gb free.

Thats it for now.
Thank you in advance for any help you can shed on this issue.

This is a known issue and it is worse with larger sheets. This is due to the usage of XML instead of binary files. There is time required to convert between the formats and the larger the spreadsheet, the longer it takes.

I have run some tests on this in a comparison between Windows, Linux and excel. I take the time to look at my email or get another tea or take a break from the computer for my health so I find it a useful reminder.
