Hi all again
Using the the OLE insert method:
This allows me to edit the drawing inside the document. All I did is
resize it so that all the connector lines, text box etc like what I
created in OO Draw. As soon as I exited, reverted back to how it was -
i.e. , ignored all my changes. So now I have text boxes displaying only
3/4 sides of a rectangle, lines disappearing - even though its visually
the same size as the original. - Can't use that!
Using cut and paste CTRL C / V method:
As I mentioned before, all formatting is lost. Sorry this is not
entriely correct. Only the font setting seems to dissappear. However,
lines and boxes have been moved so that verticle lines are no longer
straight and connectors now are on top of each other rather than next to
each other as I originally placed them. I cannot reposition them -
Can't use that either.
Is there any other way that I can insert a OO drawing so that it
resembles what I originally created?
Thanks

Prior to Version 2.0:
1.Embedding a drawing via the menus necessitates the drawing to be added
as an OLE object. (Isn't OLE an Microsoft invention ?). What is wrong
with adding an OO Drawing item on the menu?
I just personllay find it a round about way to handle something like an
OO drawing which is 'native' to the whole OOffice product. Inserting as
an OLE object suggests insterting a external (external to OO)item.
OLE was a MS invention - so? You could add a drawing item using the
menu options - You could configure your menu options to make it
simpler than how it works out of the box.
Or you could use the standard menu option of insert > OLE object, then
select 'drawing' from the list of options.
Will look into that - thanks.
2 Even when the page sizes an margins had been careful set to be
equivalent between OO Write and Drawing, inserting via menus or using
the CTRL C / CRTL V combination always distorted the drawing. i.e. the
size was incorrect, the aspect ratio had been changed.
I agree that initially when you insert a 'draw' file (as an OLE) there
is some movement that is required to get it to display as required -
however I've not seen any 'distortion' that cannot be resolved. I've
found that this happens for OLE inserts and is not just OOo.
With Version 2.0:
Still the same problems with a added feature. Copying and Pasting from
an OO drawing to a Document using CTRL C/ CTRL V removes all the text
formatting from the drawing and changes it into Times New Roman.
Not on my install. Just tried to replicate and couldn't. If you can
replicate however, it may be worth filing a bug report with the
specifics of your OS, OOo version, etc...
I am running 2.0.0 on an XP box. I did change my default style settings
with the Writer only. Just had a thought (a rare event). What style
would a Text box use in OO draw as apposed to the default style in OO
writer.
I check the style settings.
