Chris,
While there are some people that have patience to do a very large download
on dial-up, there are some computer users out in this world that only know
two functions to the computer: ON and OFF. The people on Ebay are basically
doing a service for OpenOffice.Org and are NOT getting rich doing it.
Consider the costs of the CD's, labels, CD envelopes and shipping
envelopes...plus Ebay gets a percentage....they certainly are not making
money.
One of the questions I answered when I downloaded OOo was the type of
support you could give the product. While I know they would like money (the
first item), any support in getting the product out to the world is also a
very legitimate support. The only thing I would like to see these sellers
is the fact that the download is FREE for downloading on the Internet and
the CD is for their convience.
Even M$ at one time would charge $4.95 for a copy of large upgrades if you
didn't want to do the download. It surprised me when they offered Windows
XP SP2 on a FREE CD (they didn't charge for shipping).

You are correct. It is a Free Open Source Program & they shouldn't,
but there are scammers in this world. Please stay concerned.

To whom it may concern,
While browsing eBay I had noticed a very shocking thing: people are
selling OpenOffice 1 & 2! I hope they have your blessing to do
this??? I always thought OpenOffice.org was open source and free to
download off your site?
Just a concerned user,

You're wrong, it isn't a scam. It's perfectly legal, and helpful for
those who want OpenOffice.org but have a dialup connection.

I have dialup. It is not bad to download. I use a download manager,
LeechGet,
available on the OOo download page. I logon (dial up) start the download
manager
to download OOo 2, then download my e-Mail. Sometime download e-Mail
first
then start the download manager, read e-Mail whilst downloading, and
maybe a few
otherthings, pause download manager, logoff. Later back on again. etc.
Might take awhile but it does it. I usually have many things to do so I
tend to multi
task.
