The OO insert envelope methodology is superior to Word. Very nice.
One thing that we cannot find, though, are shortcut keys to increase and decrease fonts sizes. Word lets you hightlight text (this is probably old news to you. If so, please forgive) , then either [shift-ctrl-<] or [shift-ctrl->] to reduce or increase by standard increments, or [ctrl-[] or [ctrl-]] to reduce font one point per keystroke. We regularly find these shortcut keys of infinite value in laying out attractive looking documents.
Have we missed the way to do this in OOWrite?

OOo has toolbar buttons to enlarge and decrease font size of selected text. But if you, like me, prefer to use keyboard shortcuts, read on...

I can't find a built-in keyboard shortcut for this, but you can define your own.

1) Tools > Customize > Keyboard tab.

2) Select the desired shortcut in the top list box labeled Shortcut keys. Unfortunately, the shortcuts used in Word don't seem to be among the choices (I have no idea why), so you'll have to pick something else... unless one of the macro gurus has a way to overcome this limitation.

3) Select Format in the Category list, and scroll through the Function list to find Increase Font or Reduce Font.

4) Select whether the key shortcut is to be OOo-wide or just for the current application in the top right corner of the dialog.

5) Click Modify. The shortcut key you selected in step 2 now appears in the Keys box at the bottom of the dialog, and the name of the function appears next to the key combination in the Shortcut keys list.

6) Repeat steps 2 through 5 for the second key combination you want to define.

7) Click OK to save these settings.
