In re my last e-mail to you about installing version 2.0.1 of
OpenOffice. I tried installing OpenOffice 2.0.0, which I downloaded from
your site instead of FileForum or another site, and the same Error 1935
was cited in a window when the installation bombed. I wonder if there
are any LOCKED registry keys installed by my original installation of
OpenOffice 2.0?
I ran a new program designed to find trash registry keys, but it would
not remove one. It said to contact the author. So I am asking you if
there were any locked keys installed by my original installation of
OpenOffice 2.0.0. And how do I go about unlocking them so I can finally
remove them?
Let me know. Thanks. I really liked version 2.0.0 and hope to have the
newer version up and running. Oh, yes, I also ran ScanDisk to check for
disk errors. There were none. And my OS is W-98, first edition. But that
shouldn't make much difference.
Hi kent,
As far as I am aware OOo does not lock any registry keys. Which application
reported error 1935 ? Was there more information ?
What OS are you using ?
And are you sure that you have enough disk space ?

The problem seems to be fixed. I use W-98 because I can't afford to
upgrade yet. (In Oregon unemployment is a given.) The problem was not a
locked registry key after all.
But the installation would not go unless you made a change using the
custom installation. So I checked and unchecked a box and the process
went well. I con't think too much of the "Complete" installation where
you have no control over the process. That's where you have Error 1953.
It also happened if you wanted the files installed into the same
directory you previously specified in an earlier installation. Deleting
those registry keys did not help.
I have no idea what is going on here, but it was really weird. I still
recommend OO to anyone looking for a darn good suite. Thanks.
Kent
