I think that one problem is mixing of personal emails with list messages in one inbox -- people have hard time to reply-on-top for personal messages (which is often preferred in business context -- reasons are various including laziness and silliness of email users, but it is not the point here) and reply-on-bottom-with-editing in lists. Which is one of many reasons why I try hard (very hard -- including installing local mail2news gateway, but gmane.org is usually sufficient) to use newsreader only for lists and similar stuff.
