     To redock the Task pane, hold down the Control key while double-clicking 
the word Tasks. This should redock this pane.
     What version of OOo are you using? I have the Linux version of 2.0.0. 
When I clicked View > Undock Task Pane, it undocked. When I clicked View > 
Dock Task Pane, it docked it again.
