You could do something similar with OOo by either generating the ODT files 
independetly of OOo (as they as just zipped text files), or using UNO calls 
to manipulate the document in OOo. The document from either could then be 
sent o the printer using OOo. Maybe not as efficient as your other programs 
but very flexible.
