Dear OpenOffice.org Rep:
My job has given me an old computer to have for home use, however, it
needs Windows 98 (which I haven't been able to locate at a reasonable
price). Our IS person directed me to your organization. Will you be
able to help me in any way?
Thank you.

My only MS Windows machine will never connect to the Internet. Just
to many security holes.
I would only use Linux.
Linux is free and open. You can get a copy that will work better on
an older computer than Windows 98 with more security features and as I
feel, better than Windows XP.
Also, under most Microsoft licences, any computer that is sold with
Windows pare-installed should have a copy of windows that is tied to
that computer. If it is donated, sold or trashed, that license sticks
with the computer and is not transferable.
Go back to the IS department and ask if the computer came with Windows
in the first place.
