I am using Version 2.0.1 (English) of openoffice.org under Windows
operating system. I wish to prepare some documents in Chinese. Do you have
the facilities / software?
If you have IME installed (an extension to IE5) you will have the usual
means of inputting Chinese characters.
If you have not installed an Asian build of StarOffice/OpenOffice you
probably need to open the dialog "Tools / Options - Language Settings -
Languages" and check the box for Asian in the bottom section called
"Enhanced language support".
(This e.g. will show additional entries in the "Format/Character - Font"
tab-page and makes the dialog "Format/Asian phonetic guide available")
You may change your default document language in this dialog as well.
Aside from this you only have to check if you have the apropriate fonts
installed.
(I don't know about the current arrangement but in the past fonts with
Asian characters were only included in the Chinese/Japanese/Korean
builds and not in Western ones).
