I registered and believe that this is the address for the general
user forum. I hope it because I have a host of Newbie type questions.
Am trying to learn OpenOffice from WordPerfect (been using that for
over 15 years -- and doing all my own work), and having some
difficulty. It looks like the program's model is based on Word.
To design a letterhead, in WP I've used a text box. That doesn't
seem to exist in OO, so I used a table and got the two lines of text
inserted into that.
Now, I want to set a single horizontal line directly beneath the
last line of text just as though using the underlining text, but
margin to margin even if the text is not, which is easily done in
WP. The only thing I seem able to get from OO is a line feed and
then a single line. I want to eliminate the line feed. How do I do that?
I'll have lots more questions, but is there a good reference book to
give simple answers to things like Columns (e.g., California
lawyers' Separate Statement in MSJs must be in columns) the
California Footer, Table of Authorities and Table of Contents,
Numbered pleading paper, and so on? I also want to put in a
Watermark name for my firm inside a box at the far lower left of
pleading paper on all pages. Piece of cake to do all of these
things in WPerf.
All of this is preparation for probably switching to a Mac for home
use. WordPerfect's last version for the Apple OS probably won't run
on a new iMac; it's ten years old.
