If you are using windows, open OOo (OpenOffice.org) from the quickstarter just to the left of your computer clock. Right click it and choose the app you want to use. Doing this will allow you to even open a specific OOo file as your starting point. You can also select a particular Template to open as well. Check out the possibilities that are available with the Quickstarter icon.
