No, I am on Linux. The thing is, the exact same image looks fine in an
image viewer but blurry on OOo. I know that at some point, there was some
dithering of images or something similar when they were too large (e.g. a
large JPEG was converted to a low-quality JPEG), but I thought it had been
taken care of.
When I have access to a Windows machine I'll check to see if it does the
same thing.

I had the issue a long time ago (1.3 on windoze). The blurriness
happened when I used a jpg. Bacl then, I found that if I converted to
png first (using gimp, etc.) then it (the png) behaved nicely. Since I
had a work around, I never took the time to report an issue (probably
should have) Haven't noticed the behavior lately. On the other hand, I
believe OOo uses png's internally, so that's probably the desired format
anyway. I think I've just been in the habit of converting to png.
