If Excel will fill such a series, incrementing a prefix, you
must have a customized version. I can add a custom sort list
to both Excel and OOo, but they will only increment aa, ab,
ac, etc., not aaxyz, abxyz. As far as I can tell, neither
program will increment leading letters or numbers. Dragging
1a, 2a will give you 1a, 2a, 1a, 2a, 1a, 2a, 1a, 2a.
Dragging a1, a2 will give you a1, a2, a3, a4, a5, a6 in both
programs. You can probably achieve what you want with a user
function written in basic. That way, you can define exactly
what happens.
