Hi,
I installed OOo2.0 in Windows XP, and when I try to open the archives
that had been produced by the MSOffice 2000 Professional, appears the
message:
General Error
General Error Input/Output Error
How to fix this error and to open documents?
Exists some tool of recovery this file?
Please any help,
Thanks a lot,
Clovis
I see no one has bothered to answer you. Probably because the fix is in
the User Guide at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo2.x/user_guide2_draft.pdf
The fix is incorrect, vis-a-vis Windows.
This error message indicates that the files script.xlc and dialog.xlc,
could be missing or corrupted. Look for them in the directory
$HOME/.openoffice.org2/user/basic under *NIX
or, under Windows
C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\OpenOffice.org<release>\user\basic.
To fix the problem, try exiting OpenOffice.org (including the
Quickstarter, if any) and copy these from the directory
<where_OOo_is_installed>/user/basic (use '\' instead
of '/' under Windows) to the folder in your home directory.
1) Windows doesn't have a home directory. They must mean the Application
Data path.
It does on the one Windows box I have. This is where the differences
between version of windows gets in the way. If you would be so kind as
to file an issue with _ALL_ the variations, it will be easy to fix up
the doc.
I guess it depends on what you mean by a home directory. AFAIK, Windows doesn't
support the concept of $HOME.
