Please take a look at www.neooffice.org -- you might find that installing on a mac is easier than on a PC :)

X11 is free from Apple's web site or from the disks that came with your mac. The requirement for X11 allows you to use the UNIX guts of OS X and go around Apple's interface -- the X11 software is Apple's not part of the office suite.

I am a new Intel Imac user with OSX 10.4.5

Installing OpenOffice is certainly a lot easier on my PC than my Mac!

I downloaded the program but it won' open. I guess I am missing X11 or something.

I wish you had some easy install for the Mac like there is for the PC.

Any suggestions or links that would help me? I have searched openoffice.org and googled but nothing lucid.
