If you produce or need to produce integrated media (video, sound, etc.)
in your presentations professionally. Get the full version of MS Office
or the full version of PowerPoint, itself.

Unfortunately, I've come across notices time and again on this list how
Impress (the imitator of Power Point) is limited and has no sound. On
my own system I've run Impress using images created in PowerPoint and
can't hear any sound at all. If you like your job, or need it, don't
venture into Open Office to save you.

Another option would be to contact Sun and check Star Office for it's
PowerPoint work-alike and discover, if it's possible whether you can get
sound integrated with media out of that. Maybe you don't even have to
do that, if you are fortunate, find a CompUSA store near you and ask for
a class where StarOffice is demonstrated using the PowerPoint like app.
and ask the instructor all you wish. The class isn't free though; it
might be better to get to CompUSA and just read whatever is on the box
yourself.

Last thought: If presentations, are important to you, you may have to
stick with and Master PowerPoint itself.
