As well as going to www.openoffice.org and dowloading the Windows
binary, you can get it for Linux in the same way, OR by installing
one of the major Linux distributions, as they all seem to supply
a recent version of OOo, included while you are installing the
OS.

So, you could have both OS on your system (just to give Linux a
try) and be able to access your documents in OpenOffice regardless
of which OS you had booted at any given time.

I run Linux only at home, and sometimes send myself documents
from the office, to work on (not quite sure why I want to
do work when I'm not _at work_ but that's another discussion),
while at the office I have both WinXP and Linux. I boot into
one or the other according to what I'm doing at the time,
but I have OOo always available. I keep a small partition in
FAT format, for saving files back and forth between the
operating systems.

BTW, some people suggest that I just run Linux all the time
and use Wine to run the Windows apps that I need, but
unfortunately some key applications are not supported in
Wine, thus the dual-boot scenario. I'm _very_ happy to
have OOo available on both.
Shortly, I'll get OOo for Mac OSX to run on the little iBook
that hasn't been getting much use at my house. Woohoo.
Ain't free software grand? Especially, high-end, multi-platform
free software that just _works_! Ya gotta love it.
