Is this normal behaviour / a known issue?
I can't replicate that behaviour here. OOo 2.0 (not 2.0.1); Windows XP Home. However, if I have a file actually open in OOo, then I can't rename the subdirectory that file is in. Otherwise I can open a file, edit it, save it, close the OOo window it is in (I still have another OOo document open, that comes from a different directory), and I am able to change the subdirectory name (without closing Quickstarter).

Hi Bob,

thanks for your reply.

My PC runs Windows 2000. I wonder if that makes a difference?

I think it will be something to do with Windows scheduling. A similar
example is removing a USB key, it has to be stopped first or risk losing
data even if it has not been used immediately prior to removal.

Hi Barrie,

thanks for your comments. Can you or someone else shed some further light on it?

This issue doesn't arise often enough to be a major annoyance for me, but when it does arise it is more than just a minor annoyance, because every time it happens I have to remind myself about why it is happening, then I have to unhide the OOo icon from the system try (I hide it via "PS Tray Factory", close down OOo, and then get back to my previous directory restructuring activity.
