THe change in associations is the result of the choices you made during
installation. I suspect you simply checked everything in sight rather
than accepting the default which is to leave the existing set of
associations. Now to fix this you can use the method outlined in the
FAQ, http://documentation.openoffice.org/faqs/various_topics/016.html
or use explorer to reset them.
