Have you tried putting an equal sign (=) in front of the formula when you enter it into a cell?

Hi, I have been using Openoffice 2.0 for a little while now and so far I really Love it. There is nothing not to like. I am however having some trouble with one feature in Calc. Maybe it is just me but I need some advice. When I try to
use the function " TODAY() ", it just puts the formula in the Cell instead of
today's date. What am I doing wrong? Thank You very much,
